This is Ruby - she got a little carried away with her spaghetti dinner. She will soon be in a 30 second short film documenting her epic meal.

February 21t - Dinner with friends

Dinner with friends tonight. This person is new to me, but I like what she brings to the table.

Meet Lindsey Jetter(s) - she's from Grand Rapids and dating my buddy Nick, so don't get any ideas.

February 16th - The man comes around

You may or may not know, but I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan. I made this piece of "art" a couple years ago when I was living with Justin VanFerrari in a house in Lawton. It's followed me since. The record is from Johnny Cash's first LP with Columbia Records in 1959 after leaving the famed Sun Records. My favorite tracks off this album are "Run softly, blue river" "One more ride" and "Don't take your guns to town".  His story is remarkable and much more elaborate and convoluted than the one told in "Walk the Line", in his real life story he credits his recovery to Jesus Christ, and gave his life over to the Emmanuel. I often think about this album cover and, based on his autobiographies, he was already addicted to several varieties of meth-amphetamine pills; I wonder if he had any idea where his faith journey would take him over the course of the next 50+ years.

February 15th - Pie in the Face (as promised...)

Last week we played "Battle of the Sexes" at youth group. The guys lost on a silly technicality, so we had to get a delicious pie in the face.

(short movie to follow, but for now, as promised)

February 13th - Here's comes the sun

Today just felt like a day for new beginnings. I had a little downtime this afternoon to get some images of things melting and I love this picture. Note the splash of water exploding as it hits the wooden overhang.

February 11th - Shoes get walked on

Tonight I went to Kate Jacob's 16th party because they needed someone with a beard, basically to make sure nobody gets hurt. There were a lot of shoes to be removed. I was thinking about the life of a highschool kid's shoes and how much hardship they endure. The shoes that is.

February 10th - Purpose and longing

Abe Wechter is a guitar luthier who previously had operated a guitar factory in Paw Paw, MI. Two and a half years ago he moved his operation to Ft. Wayne because opportunities he saw there. I'm intrigued between the disparity between the entreprenuer luthier who has devoted his life to his craft and the man loading a delivery truck full of convenience store goods. I know so very little of each man's story but I am compelled to thought considering the choices we make in life and how we settle for less than what we were created for. Collin is longing for all the gear behind the thick glass door to the warehouse.

February 9th - koala yumm & the bookshelf

Today Anna and I had a great dinner date with my friend Jeremy Deford and his fiance Lissa Magner. Anybody who knows Jeremy knows he is the BEST storyteller. Unfortunately I didn't do any photos with our dinner, so I just had to put together a still life ensemble tonight before bed. The Koala is Anna's, she has had it probably since she was around 7 years old or something along those lines. It's name is Koala Yumm. He sleeps on the floor. The bookshelf is just my bookshelf.

February 7th - This bear is hibernating

Today I made my wife an english muffin with peanut butter for breakfast, I packed her a lunch for her internship, then I made some gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken soup for dinner - and I started her car this morning. I say this only for documentation purposes, I have never hit for the cycle before. I did not step outside the entire day besides when I unlocked the door for my turkish american friend, Peri Acar. I was editing video the entire day. therefore these pictures are from our apartment.

February 4th - the cheap date

Tonight I had an awesome time having a great conversation with my wife while we splurged a little and had some Cottage Inn pizza.. we continued our low budget date with a little excursion to Sweetwater donuts.. used to be my second home. I couldn't help but feel like the people around us would think we were just dating because of how much we had to say to each other, just talking about each other's lives and sharing a great night together. love this girl.

February 3rd - the stairwell

Today I was afforded the opportunity to drop off my wife at her class for her masters program. She will graduate in April, and we couldn't be happier. When I was at WMU my junior year in 2003 this building, the college of health and human services was under construction across the street from me. So it's quite ironic now that my wife has spent a large chunk of her life here. I liked the 90ยบ angles mixed with the zigzag lines within this stairwell lit from the inside after dark.

February 2nd - I kind of... uh... broke my " no lighthouse" rule..

so I was just talking with my buddy John Cooperider the other day and commenting on how I never take lighthouse pictures. Some magnetic force drove me to South Haven today, and I now eat those words. But I did meet two mormons on their 2 year mission trip.

February 1st - the eery tree (pre-blizzard)

I was able to get quite a lot accomplished today. After a stellar lunch at the Shawarma King Buffet I stopped at a nature preserve and wanted to capture something earthy. Tonight, Anna and I made healthy Clif-bar esque trailmix bars. I digress to my fallout shelter for the BLIZZARD OF '11.
