March 29th - Open Mic with Ze Coop

Old dog tavern tonight. Man it felt so right. Got to see some drunkerds play. what a way to end the day.
My friend John was playing songs. He played fifteen minutes long. Next week I'll join the competition. Here is my composition.

(Tonight my buddy John Cooperider "Ze Coop" played open mic at the Old Dog Tavern, formerly Kraftbrau. Next week - Tuesday night I'll be doing the open mic at the old dog tavern.)

March 28th - the Band shoot

Yesterday I got a call from Emily - the lead singer of local act Stikyfut (alternative/funk/rock) to do some promotional photos for the band and I was immediately game for whatever. This evening, we bounced around Kalamazoo and had some good times because everyone in this group was very chill/humble, plus I couldn't help but feel a strong connection with Jared, as he physically resembled David Crowder (minus the fro). Full blog posting will happen soon on www.rhinomediaproductions.com
but for now, here's one that really made me want to buy their album.

March 25th - slowfood?

"A nation's diet can be more revealing that its art or literature."

My chef friend Brad owns Spire Catering. Cooking food is his life and he is very good at it. We trade services, he creates amazing, all natural foods and lets me eat it and I take pictures of the food for him.
Last night Anna and I went to his newly acquired space in Laporte, IN to have a 5 course meal and we were, as per usual, floored by how awesome everything was in every possible sensory category.

The above quote is from Fast Food Nation. A book I've read parts of, but have never finished.

The pieces on top of this dessert are actual  chips of garlic. Every course of the dinner had a garlic theme. Pretty cool huh.

Brad is an advocate of the slow food movement, which as you can imagine, is the opposite of fast food. It supports using sustainable locally grown foods that have higher nutrient density and are derived from natural means under a normal growth situation (no crazy hormones, pesticides, etc.)

March 24th - mazeltov- good things

I won't even comment on how I've been away. Other than what I just said.
I've been doing a lot of soul-searching/foundation-laying/vision-casting/future-planning in the past week that I've been away from this wandering image blog. I'm very excited about what's next.

March 16th - Now I'm free- free falling

Tonight I had to fill in as a babysitter for Scott and Carmen Lundin and I have an immense amount of respect for Carmen, who somehow manages 4 kids every single day. I love these guys and they really enjoyed showing off for me by jumping off the trampoline.

March 14th - Rima altogether

This is Rima, she is going to be representing Rhino Media for Senior Photography at Mattawan schools along with her friend Gabby Keb. Keegan and I split up with the two young ladies and had a great time shooting around Kalamazoo. We will post a blog on our Rhino webpage when we have all the edits done!

March 13th - the expressions of "Mad Gab"

Hey this is Julie, she's a new friend who came out to our Freshwater young adult group tonight. I was noticing the crazy variety in her expressions as she tried to sound out her phrases in "Mad Gab" and I thought I'd do a nice little composite. Click on the picture to see it enlarged.

And I'm back to being caught up on my photos!

March 12 - Improve upon silence

Yesterday I shot my first wedding of 2011! It's been a couple months, so it was fun to get back into the wild world of weddings.
This was the 2nd frame I took, and it's one of those cool "circle of life" kind of moments. This girl displayed wisdom by standing in awe and staying quiet in a special time.
"Don't speak unless you can improve upon silence."

March 11th - Jake "needs" an iPad.

It's simple.
1- go to both "Cole Automotive" and "Cole Nissan" on Facebook.
2- hit "Like"
3- VERY IMPORTANT - write "Jake Norwood" on the Facebook wall.

He wins an iPad.

If you're even mildly social media savvy this should take about 30 seconds.

Thanks All!

March 7th - Senioritis

This is the face of a girl who is over school. Anna's nearing completion of her Masters in Speech Pathology... She puts so much into her schooling because she is one of those weird people who tries really hard and wants to get good grades... (what's up with that). But she's nearing the end of the road with higher education and she can't wait to say "So long WMU". Or something like that.

March 4 - The Art Hop gig

Last night my wife, Collin and myself played an acoustic gig at an absolutely awesome Kalamazoo Art Hop site. This was particularly great because it's the first time my wife and I have ever intentionally planned a gig together. my wife made me so proud.

Black and White Model

It seems as Rhino Media video work is picking up quite a bit, I'm finding less and less time to devote to my image-a-day project. So this is a black and white rendering of Chelsea, a student who was the model for a commercial we are creating for 360 consignment store in Kalamazoo. I did the extra white yesterday so here's my contrasting black image.
